FOREST LAKES METROPOLITAN DISTRICT IS A LIMITED SERVICE COLORADO SPECIAL DISTRICT GOVERNMENTAL ENTITY   INCORPORATED JULY 18, 1973 PROVIDING WATER, SANITATION, STREET, PARK AND RECREATION FACILITIES FOR THE RESIDENTS OF FOREST LAKES, COLORADO.

        ROAD RUNNER TRANSIT SERVICE IS NOW RUNNING TO AND FROM FOREST LAKES 

Tentative schedules:  morning leaves Forest Lakes at 6:42 AM (Community Center Parking Lot) arrives in Bayfield (library) 6:57 AM connects to Road Runner Durango route which connects to Durango Transit routes.  Arrives in Ignacio at 7:28 AM.  Evening leaves Ignacio at 5:10 PM arrives in Bayfield (library) 5:25 PM arrives in Forest Lakes 5:50 PM.  Make second run from Bayfield (library) to Forest Lakes arriving at 6:05 PM.  Schedule will be posted at the following site:  http://www.sucap.org/RR/Road_Runner_BfldSchd.htm.  Questions can be directed to SUCAP at 563-4545.

FLMD MEETINGS: Second Tuesday of each month in the Forest Lakes Community Center located at 998 Alpine Forest Dr. beginning at 1:30 PM, unless otherwise posted on the Metro bulletin board at the mail stop, 257 Alpine Forest Dr.  The District also provides staff and office contacts to answer your Metro service questions.  AGENDA 

FLMD ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES: Located at 357 N. Mountain View Dr., #104 in Bayfield, Colorado. Open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00PM to 4:30 PM.   Telephone 970-884-2925; FAX 970-884-0305.

FLMD MINUTES: Metro District Board meeting minutes can be viewed at the District administrative offices during regular business hours or copies are available upon written request at $1.25 per page, prepaid. Board Meeting minutes are not available until approved by the Metro Board of Directors usually at the next regularly scheduled Board meeting.

FLMD MAINTENANCE FACILITIES: Located at 6893 County Road 501. Open Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 4:00PM. Telephone (970) 884-2111 (please call this number for after hour Metro emergencies only).

COMMUNITY CENTER: Located at 998 Alpine Forest Dr. in Forest Lakes, call the District office for rental information. (Not available during the winter).

CENTRALIZED TRASH FACILITIES: Are available to Forest Lakes residents at the maintenance facility yard Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Wednesday 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM subject to holiday closures. Please check this link for alternative disposal of prohibited trash - Phoenix Recycling LLC Newsletters click here.  La Plata County provides a transfer station on County Road 223 west of Bayfield which also provides a seasonal yard waste program. Private trash services are allowed to collect trash in Forest Lakes however users will continue to be billed by the District for the centralized facility.

BRUSH PILE:  The Brush pile is available to Forest Lakes property owners only.  Access is usually available Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM year round and on Saturdays from 8:00AM to 3:00 PM until further notice, subject to holiday closures.  During fire bans we ask that you separate your materials into different piles when unloading the larger items (greater than 6") from the smaller items (pine needles, limbs, etc.).  Please no plastic bags, lumber with nails or stumps.

  • All speed limits in Forest Lakes are 20 mph or less.

THE FOREST LAKES METROPOLITAN DISTRICT HAS NOT TAKEN OVER COVENANT ENFORCEMENT OR THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW PROCESS IN FOREST LAKES THOSE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE STILL  WITH THE FOREST LAKES PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION WHO CAN BE REACHED AT 884-3686 OR CAN BE ADDRESSED BY EACH PROPERTY OWNER.
